Construction Phase Plan & Risk Assessment produced for this 100ft 8 storey building which involved the surgical deconstruction on this restricted site. The whole building was scaffolded and screened to minimise dust in conjunction with dampening process. Residents and the public highway were considerations on this project as noise annoyance to local residents was kept to a minimum and adjacent roads were regularly swept. Over 300 skip loads were removed from site and these were covered in a bid to reduce dust accumulating in the environs of the site.
The demolition project commenced with CDM site set up and security, road closures and a period of asbestos removal. Scaffolding was then erected and internal soft stripping commenced. The project required propping from the top floor downward and commenced with the removal of the roof and subsequent floors below .Crushings and arisings were removed from site. On reaching the basement the slab was punctured and backfill of the basement commenced. The site was cleared and the project was then handed over ahead of schedule.
